History

The Houston Metropolitan has been connecting members to each other and opportunity for greater growth and development for almost seventy years. The Chamber is proud of its heritage that began in the city of Bellaire by distinguished and devoted business men and women who wanted to make their community better and stronger by joining forces as a Chamber of Commerce. The Houston Metropolitan Chamber rebranded to reflect the changes to the metropolitan area moving toward a more global composition of members, trade areas and opportunities.

The Chamber covers a large and diverse segment of the business community along Interstate-10, Bellaire, River Oaks, West University, Greenway Plaza and South Main corridors. The diversity of the area encourages the Chamber to look for ways to partner with all facets of the business community to achieve goals that are mutually beneficial.

As a not-for-profit volunteer organization the Chamber’s policies and direction are set by a Board of Directors composed of officers, directors and vice chairs. The 2017 Program of Work (the events, endeavors and initiatives the Chamber provides) are accomplished by each of those individuals working with the general membership.

The committees engage in activities in the areas of education, economic development, business resources, governmental affairs, special activities, and a wide variety of other interests.
