06 Jul Houston Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce elects new Chairman of the Board
Mahmood Mumtaz was elected unanimously by the Board to the position of Chairman. Mr. Mumtaz replaced Thomas Mouton who continues on the Board as the Immediate Past Chair. Mr. Mumtaz is Director and Owner of MZM CPA, PLLC, a tax, accounting and management consulting service firm located in the Galleria area on Westheimer. Prior to that, Mr. Mumtaz worked at Hess Corporation as the Manager of International Tax Accounting and Compliance. Mr. Mumtaz spent most of his career at Marathon Oil Company; his most recent position, serving as Host Country Tax Coordinating Manager with tax compliance and tax accounting responsibilities. Mr. Mumtaz has an MBA in Finance and is a Certified Public Account in the states of Ohio and Texas. He has been a member of the Chamber and served on the Board of Directors for more than a year and a half. He has provided valuable guidance and advice as a financial consultant and CPA to the Chamber and Board of Directors. His interest in developing the Chamber and contributing to the community by supporting small business, are the driving forces behind his involvement.
Mr. Mumtaz brings the added experience of transitioning from large corporations to becoming a small business owner himself. He has valuable advice and firsthand knowledge to share with small business owners on making those adjustments and setting their business up for success. Building on Mr. Mahmood’s extensive corporate background, he is also able to guide large corporations interested in supporting small business and advocacy projects the Chamber undertakes, by helping them get the most impact for their investment.
